Spring break

This is just getting ridiculous.  This is the sixth...or is it the seventh time it has snowed this March?  It sometimes doesn't snow that much in a year!  The first day of the month, we woke up to a lovely blanket of snow, and yesterday, schools had a 2-hour late start.  In fact, right now, it is warmer where you are Lara, than it is right here!  OK, so maybe it is daytime for you, but still, only by a couple of hours!

Last Friday was the second birthday of our dear mutual project! Over the past two years Amy and I have not only been creating this space together but indeed a whole new friendship. During the process I have discovered we have more in common than I ever imagined. Here's how Amy put it in a recent e-mail: we must be leading parallel lives! Last Saturday, at just about 4.13 pm our time, here's what my whole family was doing. I promise, I planned on posting these pictures without knowing a thing of Amy's Saturday post!

Green

What better way to celebrate St. patty's day than with a little green?  Though given my track record with starting seeds, these leggy flowers should start falling over soon.  Sunny early spring days always make me jump the gun on gardening projects!

We had a happy weekend with my daughter's friend visiting, tacos on both days, cleaning, one of the best movies I know (Billy Elliot), some furniture moving, and a Sunday walk in the sun. Here's some more brown and and white, so easy to capture during this time of year!

Again...

Since my last post, I have taken on yet another project while the last project remains incomplete.  Three days of sunny, warm weather got the current project going, though now it is raining as we are headed off to the dump to haul away our old hot tub (step #1 of project #2).  I was hoping to have some pictures today, but there is still much cleanup to be done.  Sigh.  So instead, I will leave you with a picture I took a few months ago, but might as well have been taken today.

In case you were wondering, that's a sleeve in the first picture. And it's longer than it was last week! I've been knitting this sweater for well over a year (with long pauses with nothing happening), but now I'm getting very close to finishing. It's for the man in the house. His birthday present in 2010 was a basket of yarn, and he then got to choose the design. This sweater has seen so much already! It's been to the archipelago, visits to relatives, my daughter's gymnastics events, the doctor's waiting room... anywhere I've been! Just think of all the emotions knitted into it, how much has happened in process. Knitting is the perfect craft because it's completely transportable! You can knit anywhere - and I do!

Hi-fi

I'm sure the phrase "I need another project like a hole in the head" has some sort of translation in every language.  But still, here I am again with a new project.  This lovely record player, sadly, has passed on and is looking for a new life.  And who would I be to turn away such a beautiful peice of retro furniture?  But gutting is always the easy part....
